hows this any different than using a chopper? Sounds like they just found a cheaper way to do it.... I don't see the big deal here.

If they had the hellfires attached then that would be a problem.

I'm just surprised that this hasn't already become common.

I expect UAVs to be used to patrol for wildfires.
Most states have replaced fire towers with airplane overflights.
UAVs would seem to be the next step.

If they are cheaper to use, that will encourage more use.

As long as it's for legitimate purposes and it's cheaper than paying a helicopter pilot why not?

How much liberty are we willing to give up for a sense of security?

Some #2 lead shot and a full choke should make fairly short work of this little mess.

It is no different than what is currently being done with different resources. There is no additional liberty or privacy being taken. And, it is being done at a savings to the tax payer. What is the problem with them using them?

Drones can be hacked, helicopters can't.

"...no additional liberty or privacy being taken.."? Really?

Do you mean no more that what is already taken by cameras at stoplights, on street corners, or Google/earth?

Or do you really mean, "not that much more being taken."?

    1) Why is it different from a LEO choppah?!?!?

    2) Title of your thread is misleading. "...use drone on people" makes it sound like they stopped bank robbers with a Hellfire missile.....

So, if they put a GPS tag on your ankle, no additional liberty or privacy would be taken? It's no different than a policeman following you in a patrol car, right?
