ERIE, Pa. (AP) — Erie police and the county coroner are continuing to investigate the death of a man who was stabbed with an ornamental sword after he apparently broke into another man’s home.

Police have not charged nor released the name of the home owner who stabbed 24-year-old Delvon Crockett in the chest about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Erie police Chief Steve Franklin says the home owner returned from work to find Crockett there and stabbed Crockett with a sword that had been hanging on the wall.

Police had not filed any charges by early Thursday.

District Attorney Jack Daneri said the investigating was continuing.

Court records show Crockett has a history of gun and drug charges.

I'm trying to picture this and for the life of me can't stop laughing. Maybe it's because I'm just not that into knives and swords. And I'm not saying it's all that funny, maybe just odd.

This homeowner had to have his wits about him to have reached for a wall-hanger and what, say on-guard and stick the BG?

In any event, quick thinking saved the day for this fellow.

I have three "wall hanger" swords within reach right now. I gotta say, the thought never occurred to me to use them for home defense. I just always have a gun closer.

I have a couple claymore hanging around... and I have thought of using them if I couldn't get to one of my pistols.

Is that near the groin? That had to hurt!

The home owner needs to learn the hierarchy of self-defense weapons:

    Gun>Sword>Pepper Spray>Scream like a girl
