Who can deny it? Who can deny that it is tearing this country apart and preventing any real progress? I believe everyone would benefit from watching this 20 minute video of a speech by ex-Westboro Baptist protester. China is kicking our butt, and will likely emerge as the new world leader within the next decade, while we are frittering away everything we stand for bickering from the inside. Just an idea.

Another great talk by a social psychologist about the sharp divisions in the US, and Europe:

We have the opportunity for real progress right now, if our congressional leaders were patriots and not commies.

We tend to think that now is the worst its even been. But stark political and social division, and a fake "media" have been part of American culture since the beginning. But you are right that American culture is devolving at an alarming rate.

the 2% are very good at forcing the 98% into a 30/70 split.

We spend too much time labeling people and not moving the ball down the field.

Black, white, republican, democrat, gay, straight, Christian, Muslim, etc. If we could stop all that nonsense and understand that no one in DC gives a flying **** about any of us, we could maybe get somewhere.

When the globalists and progressives drive the nation AND Joe Sixpack into bankruptcy, something has to give. For progressives to cry timeout because they lost the election is hilarious. Obama did his best to covertly wreck middle America and Middle America pushed back.

The simple fact is that the nation will collapse should the Left and their crony capitalist/globalist allies continue as they have.

The Left wants war in the streets. They have been attacking Trump supporters openly in the streets like 1930's Brown-Shirted Nazis.

If regressive liberals would stop trying to make every aspect of our lives more expensive, and less convenient, then we'd see real progress.

You had your chance to compromise during 8 years of Obama but didn't because after all you won.

You mention real progress. What do you consider real progress?

The polarization of our country along political lines is blatantly obvious. And the GOP has way too many rats on it's ship to ever accomplish anything. The libs have candidates on both sides of the ticket in way too many elections.

Trump's victory was briefly great - it showed there is a strong core of those who still believe in traditional values. But the reactions of those who destroy our great nation led by the communist mass media, show the near total brainwashing that has been in place for decades. I fear we are sunk. I'm still stockpiling.

Polarization? You mean like when LBJ was President? Or Nixon. Heck, Lincoln for that matter. We'll survive. This country was built by survivors.

    True story...

All of us, regardless of caste, creed, color, gender, or station in life, sure as hell have a lot more in common with each other than we do the no good mother****ers who have so successfully divided us.

Conflict is the engine of history. With conflict terrible things can happen, without conflict nothing happens. Do you think America would have put men on the moon had it not been for the cold war?

The way I see it all politicians and judges are self serving scum because of lack of term limits.

However in the past 10 years

    You are either for:

    Capitalism
Keeping the money you earn in your pocket
    2A rights
    Affordable rural living

( The United States as it was)

    or you are for:

    Socialism
    Over taxation
    No 2A rights
forced movement out of rural areas into suburbs and cities

    (Europe as it is)

    So which is it?

Information travels incredibly fast today, and that also includes opinion, bias' and straight up B*** S***.

That's a contributing factor for sure.

Except that's not how things work in real life. Multiculturalism has never and will never work. Different people build different societies. We've removed the incentives for assimilation, and have brought in so many people that assimilation is not necessary. Instead, people form enclaves that are vastly different than traditional America.

Well, Barry widened the political gap to a chasm (and virtually every societal gap to an abyss for that matter).

The democrats complain that health care reform discussions are behind closed doors (ironic isn't it, from the party who gave us: "We have to pass the bill to find out what is in it").

Then when there is a republican proposal to discuss health care reform in the open, the democrats vote against it - just because it was/is a republican proposal. The current democrats are obstructionist just to be obstructionist - but this is nothing new; Pelosi (2005) - "Why should we put a plan out? Our plan is to stop him. He must be stopped." (referring to GWB).

Too slow and over dramatic. Be nicer if there was a transcript, which could be read in 2 minutes instead of the painful 15 minutes for this woman to tell us her Kumbaya story :)

Oh, wait, I found the transcript link, just under the video! Yay!
