My PM40 goes everywhere I go. It's very concealable, reliable and powerfull, and extremely well made. I currently use Winchester PDX-1, 180gr. Cartridges. I want to make sure I get adequate expansion with the 3in. barrel. What cartridges do you recommend. As this is my EDC and primary BUG, the proper cartidge is important to me.

Thanks for your reply. I noticed that the GD short barrel is advertised as a bonded bullet. Reports I've seen indicate bonded bullets may not open up as well when fired through fabric. The bullets I'm presently using are bonded bullets and I'm not sure they're the best choice for a six round pistol when my life is on the line, hence the question, best cartridge ?

The absolute best I have ever tried, meaning physically shot out of my gun into ballistic gel through jean material, wood, glass, and metal has been the DPX line from Cor Bon.

In all the calibers I tried (380, 9, 40, 45) it opened the most reliably. I will note that this was before the other companies were coming out with the short barrel load, so that may be useful to try.

Not cheap, but my life isn't either.
