This is ridiculous, it is not possible for black people to be racist, duh !! The judge must simply have been misquoted.

not to even say he is racist, but it was a poor combination of words for a judge.

Either way...that is a heck of a plea. Agg assault on a police officer down to disorderly conduct and a joke sentence of 3 months probation. They should have just dropped the charge if they were not going to do anything with it.

Right. Police often pile charges on knowing most will be dropped or plead to a lesser charge. No story here other than a soon to be disbarred judge... At least we can only hope!

read it again please - it even states that the officer was unharmed

ETA --- "told the Tribune-Review the plea deal was appropriate and agreed to by the officer, who was not injured."

If the story is accurate, I think the Judge might have been right. It sounded like a ridiculous plea deal to me.

Since the officer agreed to it I don't see an issue.

Hard to comment without knowing what the "assault" on the officer was. Almost any action can be ruled as assaluting an officer or resisting arrest.

If the officer agreed to it then that is a huge factor pointing toward the plea being reasonable for the circumstance. I have agreed to several pleas of dramatically reduced or even dropped charges in certain situations especially if it seems pretty certain that a decent person made a mistake that deserves a 'mulligan'.

Do you think anything would have changed if he had said, "No your honor, I don't like that deal"?

From my personal experience of being exactly where he was, it would not have changed anything. Most Judges really don't care for someone, police officer or not.....to disagree with their decisions.

They tend to be above those sorts of things.:whistling:

In my experience the guy probably got the right lawyer who knew the right people and they worked a deal. I am sure it come to no ones surprise that when it comes to the legal system, if you throw money at it the problem gets resolved.

That judge is going to have a load of appeals piling up. What a pompous ass.
