It's unclear exactly what's going on at the moment, but it appears that the PlayStation Network is down and causing a whole host of related problems for PS3 systems, including 8001050F error codes, game crashes, corrupted trophy info, and even the complete inability to launch certain titles. There's no ETA on when things will get back to normal -- looks like it's gonna be a Blu-ray kind of evening for PS3 owners out there.:wow:

Looks like it will be in my best interest to just keep my system off for a while..........

No blue ray for me. My laser crapped out and I am waiting for the replacement to come in the mail. Maybe I'll get lucky at it will come today.

My PS3 is working fine now. I was logged out of PSN and had to do a hard reset a few times but all is well now.

The network is actually not down. People with the newer slim PS3 do not have the problem. This only affects the older fat models. Some websites are saying the problem has something to do with a leap year bug.

Glad I opted for the 360. I went back and forth quite a bit and finally settled on it. Rarely does my luck work in that direction.

The joys of owning both systems. I'll just start playing my 360 till they get PSN back up so I can go back to Borderlands.

How does this even compare with RROD?

Sony said they hope to fix the problem within 24 hours.

ahh theres a fanboy. only real comparison in my eyes is that nothing is perfect and its a massive problem with early consols....sounds familiar to me.

This is why I pay to be on xbox 360... I got sick of the playstation network and its catering to hackers and cheaters.

It definitely does suck!! I just picked up Bioshock 2 on Saturday, and can't play it right now.

I still don't know how anyone could compare it to the RROD, since that involves total failure, required a replacement console (with up to 2 week turnaround), and up until recently, required that you be logged into Live to use downloaded content on the replacement machine. I've had my fair share of RROD, and this doesn't even compare.

Sony is probably waiting on the date change to fix the problem. Various forums report that taking the PS3 apart and removing/replacing the battery fixes things. Time will tell but, if I lose my saves, etc, I may just give up on console gaming forever.

*shrug* it's not like I have to box up my system & send it in for repair or anything.

Besides PSNetwork has always been really stable, so I am not going to hold a temporary 24 hour disruption that has only happened once in the 3 or 4 years I've owned a PS3 against them.

    DO NOT DO THIS!!!!

I just tried, and couldn't get my PS3 back together and running properly. I had to destroy my PS3 to salvage my MW2 disc.

And there are no PS3s out there...none anywhere. Sony doesn't even have them in stock.:steamed::steamed:

I am willing to BET that Sony knew all about this issue, and that is why there are no PS3s in stock anywhere. They are probably having to change some programming of new units to avoid this problem, and that's why none are available.
