First off let me say that I LOVE commodity cheese so much I would kill for it, having said that I cant find it anywhere. Yesterday at the salt mine I was talkin to this cat, and he told me these two lady friends he has brought him over some commodity cheese, I went completely ape **** and asked where they got the stuff, as I wanted some. He then told me it wasn't actual commodity cheese, but tasted just like it and they bought it from Save A Lot grocery, for 12 bucks for 5 lbs. Now people all have different taste buds and since this isn't actual commodity cheese I may or may not like it. My other option is to go to the Amish store and buy a huge bag of cheese curds for 18 bucks. I can't afford to buy both, so it's one or the other, and I can't decide which to get. I'm not sure how many pounds of cheese curds there is but it's less that 5lbs:headscratch::dunno:

I like me some gubmint cheese.

After hurricane Hugo on St. Croix FEMA was handing out weekly food bags with gubmint cheese. A social worker came up to my mother's house and told my brother and me we should go down to the high school gym and get ours. We told her thank you but we were good for food. She said since she had been up to our house before and taken our name and number of people one of the bags had our name on it. We went and got the bag. The cheese was good but what I really liked was the canned pork, a big food service size can of canned pork. It was nothing but chunks of roast pork packed in water. I made a lot of meals out of it until one week it wasn't in there. When I asked the guy handing them out what happened to it he said a handful of Muslims were offended by being given food bags with pork in them so they took it out. This was in 1989. Even then they were demanding the majority bend to their wishes.

Go for the fake commodity cheese. My abuela used to help hand it out every month and would bring some home at the end of the day and make homemade cheese tacos.

    Yummy!

Someday, if I'm lucky enough to be poor, maybe I can get some more of it!

    Ronaldo - Cheese, please...

    Okie,

I used to work in a cheese factory growing up in WI. Take it from me, any cheese that is not in packaging from a cheese factory is pieces parts left overs! Some actually from the drains of the cheese vats. All cheese starts out as cheese curds and is put into "hoops" that are compressed and cut into blocks.

Buy local cheese if you can. Kraft or anything in slices already is something that may or may not resemble cheese! :whistling:
