Why did they stop making them? They're so handy. I'm glad my truck has them.
They were great back in the day when the only a/c was 2/70. (2 windows open/70 mph)
Well every vehicle I've had with them they leaked in the rain and whistled at highway speed.
Body designs change, plus it's cheaper for the manufacturer.
I liked them also. When I was a kid, my Dad had a '63 Buick Riviera that was equipped with powered vent windows. Whenever I'd sit in the front seat I would play with them just to watch that little wing window go back and forth.(These were the days before child car seats). My Dad would always say, "stop playing with those god damn windows!"
They provided great ventilation.
That was part of their mystique.
My truck is a '90. Even my '70 Dodge had factory A/C.
I see a change of attitude is in order. Noise isn't a problem, it's a celebration. The whistling of the windows, the hum of a V8 engine, off-road tires singing a hymn at freeway speeds... music to my ears. An orchestral symphony of mechanical physics and sonic euphoria.
Yer doin' it wrong.
Easy way to break in...
And they figured out how to make a full window go down...
^^^The correct answer.
And to make it easier for me to tell a '67 from a '68 Camaro.
^^^The real answer.
I have them in my 2008, but it's a MACK cab over.
Sorry, but they sucked even back then.
I'd pay extra for a new truck with wing vents.
Even that picture is a turn on for me. I love the red Dodge.
Sorry, I used to drive a 1993 Ford F-150........and loved those little vent windows. Yes my truck had A/C, but seldom used it.
It's cheaper to make one large piece of glass then it is to make a vent wing set up..
It's all about the dollar.
vent windows rocked,mostly because i hate a/c.
and they defogged the windshield way faster then the heater.
i also miss manual windows so.....
The wings on this car would blow your hair off @ 60mph.
My cars have always had A/C, but I never use it, either. I prefer to drive with the windows open. My truck is great with the windows, vent windows, and rear sliding window all open.
