Saw a pistol on GunBroker for sale without a magazine.

Recall being told that pistols being sold without magazines had almost certainly been stolen by a burglar from a house where the owner stored magazines separately from their guns.

Wonder how true that characterization is.

If that’s true, I have no doubt that law enforcement already has listings like these in their sights. I could be wrong, though. Would be interesting to hear from someone in the know.

    I would say zero truth.

No one stealing guns is selling them on GunBroker or any of the other legit websites.

    I always thought it was "hey it's a $400 gun" versus "hey it's a $380 gun and 20 each for 2 mags = $420"

In California you can find consignment guns like that because the people selling them don't want to buy a 10 round mag just to sell it and all they have we 10+ round mags.

It's why I don't want to sell my 10+ guns. Just not worth it. I'd almost rather sell them for parts.

In communist occupied Colorado, we are restricted to 15 rounds. Sometimes, rather than selling a gun with a full capacity mag, sellers will sell them without a magazine. Strange, and not for me, but there it is.

Is it a gun for which the mags are getting hard to find, such as Sig p225 or p239? Could explain. Money in those mags.

Maybe stolen from a gun show, where they are often displayed without the mags.

Or someone is buying guns and selling the guns and magazines separate to maximize profit.

Kinda like how you don't get a spare tire in an economy car.

Some don't want to deal with 10 round mag restrictions. Free states won't like it because no full capacity mag. Non-free states because of 10 round restrictions.
Profit maximization also comes to play.

    But I understand that pa
ER ack books with no front cover were considered destroyed. IIRC. They send the covers back to publishing company and don't pay for books they don't sell.
Yes back I bought a box full of "New looking popular paperbacks with no covers". I later found the seller was breaking contract.

I think this is one reason receiving FFLs won’t accept shipments from non FFLs.

Nope. I didn't have a contract with publisher. I didn't know they had been claimed destroyed... I in good faith thought they were legit to buy. People have used comic books cut up covers to make cards, decorate.

Amazing the dollar value in cheap magazines. Some popular ones are now 40 or 50, right?

Count the Mustangs in there, all the way up to the $74,000+ GT550.
