I see a lot of bashing on this and rightfully so but you guys know this is an easy at home fix right? Just get a small pot of boiling water going(needs to be a rolling boil) then dip the end of the frame in the water for 10-15 seconds. Take it out and right away bend it down(I usually just put is on the floor for pressure) a few seconds. It will mold straight and stay that way.

...you should contact Glock, maybe they can add this process to their production line:dunno:

the pig nose is kind of a trade mark, if they fixed this we would need something else to complain about, I am getting to like the look

I think the point of the bent up dust cover is to block dust and powder from getting in between the slide and the frame. When that gap is widened, more junk can get in. I say leave it alone and don't worry about it. I actually like the way it looks. It adds character, and it blocks debris from getting in between the frame and slide.

But not forever, done that a few years ago to my G17, after a few month it returned as it was before, I just stop caring about the "pig-nose"

My fix worked pretty well. I just got over it and all of a sudden it wasn't a problem anymore.

So it's like the fly on a urinal, giving the critics something to aim for?

I think the guys who are promoting the pig nose as a good thing are suffering from a form of cognitive dissonance ;)

Ditto here. I bought my G34 at the beginning of '08 and did the "boiling water" fix almost immediately to straighten the dust cover. Here's what the dust cover looks like as of this morning:

The fix is simple and, it seems, permanent.

While the "pig nose" is cosmetic, yes it is a production flaw.

Boil the frame if you like, it will permanently fix the "pig nose" if done properly.
However, I've yet to hear of a "pig nose" induced failure.

I'm a new glock owner so I'm not entirely sure what to look for when you say "Pig Nose". Anyone have a picture of this? Just want to keep my eye on it. Thanks in advance!

    Safe shooting!

Nah! The pignose is an accuracy modification that reduces barrel vibration as the bullet passes down the barrel. I know that this is true but I can't reveal my sources except to say that she was married to a Swiss guy who had a cousin who lived in Austria who shared a ski lift with someone else who lived in Austria who had a Glock.

Do you know of any aftermarket fiber optic front sight for the Glock that does not overhang the slide's lightening hole?
