I had no idea we had a photo forum until today... yeah for the billion fringe forums on GT!

I like the cat and a beautiful job you did on the tonal range of the greys. I was curious, why green eyes? The pupils would normally be natural to exaggerate with green, but why the rest of the eye? You are probably telling us something about that cat, but somehow it doesn't resonate with me. Yellish would seem more striking. Green is passive but not cuddly.

Just thinking aloud, hope you don't mind.

    This is my opinion:

When I see the cat with the green eyes, it reminds me of Nephilim's avatar.

So, seeing the cat makes sense in comparison to the avatar - if that makes any sense at all. :)

Darn, I didn't look at that. You are right. It does remind me of his avatar. Similar mood. Heh. I missed that. It's got to be a streak of his personality that manifests itself.

That's it. Mood and personality. I don't always have a way with words. :)

A sound observation :) Honestly I often don't stop to think about why I'm doing what I'm doing when it comes to creative work like photography. I chose to make the cat's eyes green because that shade of green is uncommon on a cat... her eyes are actually a yellowish green, and that seemed to commonplace for such a stately pose. I would have gone with ice blue to compliment the grey shades in the picture :)

Very nice work. I like to play around with my images in PSP but that's the beauty of going digital. I tend to lean towards flowers, insects and cemetaries. Whenever I post an online album I put a link up.

Nephilim - Ice blue would have looked pretty cool as well, I think.

I'll claim credit for the tonal qualities of the cat picture because I very carefully hand adjusted them in that print. The toad picture I have to admit however is the basic "Sepia" function of the Sony F707 camera, with a basic contrast and tone adjustment.

For those of you reading this thread 'after the fact' so to speak... I used to have an avatar that was a very dark chalk and charcoal style drawing of a man with long white hair and dark eyes :) (The thread just doesn't make sense with my new AV hehe)

Actually......there's something alluring about both pictures. Something about not seeing Joy's eyes but having the cat looking straight at the viewer. No, I still see a similar mood and personality with both pictures. Sorry, Nephilim, can't escape it! You've got a signature with your photography. You're able to capture a certain mood and personality. Pretty cool.

    :)

Alright... you're right. :) It is pretty easy to pic out my works. I can't really put my finger on it though... I tried, but I keep defining myself as who I think I am... which I'm not sure is entirely accurate.

Anyone want to take a shot at pinning down my photographic personality? I'll try and dig up some more shots to round out the evaluation.

Me too :) Fortunately she's been a willing subject, I've been able to take thousands of pictures of her over the last year or so. Its always nice to have someone around that enjoys being photographed, and is really photogenic.
