Thanks to the OP for the great pics and info; for the rest of us that need good Glock stuff like that to get thru the day!
My brand-new (last week) G17 USA appears to have the same identical finish as my G17 Austria that is 5 years old.

Also, it came with a pink label and 2 High-cap mags.
It also has a pig nose like my old G17 did before a few seconds in hot water.
One of the most extreme examples of pig nosing. What the hell is going on with Glock? Do they just not care any more?
Any how often does this Tenifer/cyanide crap need to be perpetuated? This process IS done in the U.S. This has been covered repeatedly.
(and it's Tenifer, not Tennifer)

This is the exact same information we received from Lynn Freshly during Glock Armorers Course last November.
Glocks current is virtually same, also a salt bath nitriding process, that results in a finish comparable to (HEF) Durferrit GmbH Tenifer.
Is there anyone who has taken the course more recently that has heard otherwise?

I have a Glock 17, frame made in USA from 2006 serial # KDB XXX.
There's nothing to the tenifer argument. The US does allow cyanide salt-bath nitriding. I've spoken to an EPA inspector who inspects and certifies one in Ohio. Glock is choosing to use a different process because it's cheaper (less regulated) to do it this way in the US, and Glock has to hit their price point... I've also spoken with a manager with the company which developed tenifer here in the US (under a different brand name) and then sold the rights to the process (but not the name) to a European company who called their itteration "tenifer.". He said the changes that Glock has made to the process they're using on the US-built guns is 99% the same and resilient as the older process. He also opined that "missing" last 1% is superfluous insofar as a guns' surface treatment is concerned.
Ohio EPA inspectors should know, considering H.E.F. USA, producers of Melonite, Tufftride (Tenifer), is located in Springfield, OH.
Makes sense, easier to claim EPA issues than to admit finishing "on the cheap". Also confirms that Glock is using, although similar, an alternative process- which some argue over the 1% difference in surface appearance to Tenifer.
All considered, no problems with current finish here. Tools don't need to be shiny to serve their purpose, as long as durability isn't compromised IMO.

And where do you get one of those? A 100% made in Austria Glock cannot be imported. At best you get an American made frame and Austrian barrel, slide, etc.
I love this nostalgic made in USA stuff. The reality is Glock is most likely using the same tooling in the USA to make parts formerly made elsewhere (i.e., Europe) for much higher cost. The engineering requirements for the gun still get met, regardless of location of assembly/fabrication.
The US is becoming the low cost manufacturing center for European companies selling their product in the US--which is great. But one needs to remember that most companies with mass produced products design them as such, and any "craftsmanship" is really non-existent, negating the argument that Made in country A means higher quality than made in country B.
Mexican made F150s (Lobo) are just as good as US made F150s--the processes and parts are nearly the same.
Though this is a quite old thread..
I would like to know: if this batch of glocks has suffix numbers over 100, like AAAA101, AAAA200, etc..

That is more than likely 100% true but the fact remains our dollars become pesos and are gone from the US forever. We really need to figure a way to put Americans to work before we totally go down the toilet. God Bless America. we need your help more than ever now.
