Picked up this Glock 19 Gen 4 on a whim

Gun range was trying to get rid of this G 19.4. I walked out the door 350+ tax. Ordered a new barrel and a tungsten guide rod. Will be installing some Trijicon HD sights in a few days after a deep clean.

Why the tungsten guide rod? I love my 19.4, but IMHO you’ll gain zero advantage with any RSA other than OEM. Congratulations though!

The OEM is plastic. This was one of their range guns. It has seen better days.

I would order a trigger spring, and oem recoil spring. Gen 3 17 smooth face trigger and some sights and call it good.

Absolutely. I love Gen 4's! I wish Glock would bring them back.

I have Tungsten Guide Rods in all my Glocks. Sure, they don’t really do anything the stock one doesn’t but it does add a smidgen of weight to it and IMO it’s definitely better than the stock plastic guide rods.

Never had a malfunction with one and just feels better to me I guess. Waste of money to some ? Sure, absolutely. But I like them.

Is the barrel worn out?

How much is a new barrel?

Is the GEN4 G19 becoming hard to fine?

I have a GEN4 G19 - and had considered buying a spare - but thought they would get cheaper after the GEN5 was established.

I bought mine in 2013 and it did not come with the beavertail backstraps - I assume your gun is from 2011 or early 2012 (because it has both sets of backstraps) - I am not a Glock expert - my dates could be off by a decade!

You should not need to use that new barrel. Do a deep cleaning of it. Ive bought a few "range guns" that were glocks. Do a deep cleaning of it. It usually takes me a good 5 or so cleanings before I get all the muck out of them. But once you do yove got a Glock with a super sweet trigger. Dont use your new barrel you wont need it. The stock one just needs to be cleaned massively. Glocks are still very accurate with lots of rounds thru them. You got a good deal on that one.

Great buy there ZW!
Edit:
The indoor range I go to can never sell their rental range guns. They don't own them. Glock, CZ, Springfield and S&W own them. Every year or so a Rep comes and does a change out. The used guns get a factory refurbish and are sold through a distributor.

Great price for a beater/truck gun. I wouldn't personally spend any more money on it, particularly a barrel. You've got everything you need for it, including that often 'misplaced' 3rd mag. Well done.
Good deal, but I would have played with the original barrel before buying another.

Metal guide rods make squeaky noises, and funny textures (subtle) when pulling the slide, that OE one's don't.

Deep cleaning not necessary, anymore than an engine on a used car.
