I've been itching to get this thing for a while after hemming and hawing between it and a S&W .460. Decided the Ruger would be plenty of hammer for me.

Hope to get it to the range next Friday. I have some .454 brass but only have .45 Colt +P loaded to shoot at the moment.

I have a Lyman mold for a 325 gr flat point gas check that only this .454 can do justice to.

Congrats on the .454. I've got T/C Encore in .460 S&W mag, but really prefer shooting it as a .454. Hope you enjoy it as much as I like mine.

    Nice looking blaster.

IMO you made the right choice. What the 460 offers in power, it makes up for by being an unwieldy, huge, cannon of a gun.

Having had a 460 and a ruger alaskan, I would have to say you made the right choice.

Love all my Ruger wheel guns.
Come to think of it...I like my old Colts too, and my S&W's.

    Thanks all.

AK, that's the same thing I was thinking about. If I bought the .460, 95% or better of the time I wouldn't be utilizing it's potential. Cool but brutishly large.

That is definitely a hammer of the gods!!! I have one in .44 Mag and love it. Might grab a .454 is a deal comes along.
