I got lucky today and had a final fatal date with a 8pt buck that I've spotted on numerous ocassions during my pre-seson scouting and during the archery/muzzleloader seasons. He has been one sneaky bastard and today was his last day at this game of " cat & mouse" with me being the cat and him the mouse. I was hunting on public land in my regular area. I did a still hunt using all nature vegation from various fallen FLA-slash pines branches and was sitting in a chair ( yeap I learn to be relaxed and lazy in my older days ) and all of sudden I happen to look behind me and notice movement. Will it was my long lost friend, he was sneaky up behind me, just grazing along at a steady pace. I barely had a enought time to get my gun up and cock when he pop out at the trail bend and in my scope all I saw was nothing but deer chest and a white bib. I took a quick aim, held on and let loose one 45colt bullet. The deer dart and did a 180deg flip and had his tail now facing me and he darted off into the thick palmetto grove. I was surprise and excited all at the same time. I didn't even bother waiting the 30mins since I heard him crash into the background probably 60 yrds or less. So after a whole 10mins I went a looking and as I rounded the palmetto grove I found a set of antlers with a deer attached. details: species = Whitetail deer ( buck ) 8points in a 4x4 weapon = Ruger Redhawk 45colt top with a 2x weaver laod = One 280gr WFN/GC BearTooth Bullet pushed behind 22grain of H110 and setoff by a CCI350.
