I'm a huge 1911 fan. My Dad always has 1911s and I knew that's what I wanted. It's a wonderful gun. I went to the range with a friend who had a Glock. I called it plastic Tupperware etc. I don't have a real reason for hating them. I just think they look ugly.

Well now I own a Glock. I decided on a Glock 26 for my ccw. I can carry my 1911 and still will occasionally, but it is just a tad heavy. I liked what the members on here had to say about the G26. I can't argue with the practicality. I still don't think it is the most beautiful gun in the world, but it has grown on me tremendously.

I'm looking into a Crossbreed holster or something similar. I also read a lot about ammo and decided on Speer gd 124 +p. I'm glad to join the Glock community. If anyone has any advice or words of wisdom to a new owner I'd appreciate it.

Welcome to GT. Great forum and more info than you can imagine. When I've asked questions, I've gotten really good advice. I have 3 Glocks...G17, G30 and G36. The G36 is my current CCW. My only advice is to shoot as often as you can. You and your G26 will become very good friends!!

Well, fellas, looks like we corrupted another one. Bwaahaahaa.

Seriously, the G26 was specifically designed for concealed carry needs, so it is no wonder that so many people make them their primary CCW. I have prettier pistols, but none more reliable than my G26, so it is the one that is on my hip day in and day out.

    Welcome aboard.

I too, was not a fan of Glocks when they came out in the 80's. A friend of mine rented one at a range, 2 boxes of ammo later, I had to own a Glock.

    I own a Springfield 1911 also.

Yeah they're ugly and beautiful at the same time.

Watch out for the slide stop. I came from 1911's as well. Riding your thumb on top of a 1911 thumb safety is a proper way to shoot 1911's. However, riding your thumb on a Glock slide release will cause malfunctions, though usually in the form (for me at least) of a failure to lock back on empty.

Other than that, I'd say you mad a wise choice. The Glcok 26 is just so versatile.

Jeep take a look at the MTac holster. It has the advantage of a full cover for the muzzle, slide, and front sight.

Yes, I discovered Glocks three years ago - now own five. The 1911 was, and still is, a fine weapon. But a G21 will do the same job, with more rounds, and less weight. Welcome.

Whatever you do DON'T shoot a G30, otherwise you'll want to sell the G26 and get one. LOL.

Your experience pretty much mirrors my own, 2002jeep. I wasn't too excited, when my PD started issuing the Glock m23. I didn't like it much, especially that "thing" sticking out of the trigger.(safety) It started to grow on me like a fungus. Once I finally learned about the trigger reset, and how to use it, I loved it. When I retired in 2010, my fellow officers bought the Glock from the PD, and even threw in a holster. The 1911 and the Glock. Two pistols that remarkably changed history in their time.Would not be without either one of them.

    Yes, I empathize... ;-)

I too am a ex 1911 junkie, lol.

Still have some around, love them as much as ever, but not what I carry anymore, they have become an avocation as oppose to the Glock, which has become a tool.

    Look at the MTAC holster.

    Welcome to the dark side...bahaha!
