Hello to all,

I own a Pardini GT9 5in with the slide vents and experience painful trigger sting when firing the pistol. For those not familiar with the phenomenon "trigger sting", it is the transfer of energy from the recoil of the pistol into the shooters trigger finger. After two mags your finger is battered and numb and your ready to stop.

I have contacted Pardini USA many times and they have stated that it is normal and induced by my shooting technique but I find this very hard to believe. In addition to myself, several others (all experienced shooters and collectors) have fired the pistol and found the experience to be quite painful after several rounds.

I have tried adjusting the trigger to compensate and have had very little success. I did find that dialing in the maximum degree of over-travel possible takes the edge off a bit, making it only slightly more tolerable.

Anyone else had the same experience I have with this pistol? Any suggestions as to how to fix? Pardini sells a recoil buffer system that is integral to the guid-rod; might that help? Perhaps a straight trigger would help? Could it be due to the lower mass and faster action of the lightened slide? One of my pet theories is that it has something to do with the disconnector. I have noticed what I consider advanced wear at the point where the disconnector meets the slide. I have only fired about 250 rounds through this pistol.

Any opinions are welcome, but I am specifically seeking input from those with experience with the pistol, trigger sting, or both.

Ps. The pistol is with Pardini right now.

Best,
BR

Do you shoot other guns without feeling the trigger sting?

WIllie,

Never felt anything like this on a pistol and I have a good amount of experience with handguns. I had a Romanian akm that had some trigger slap which is why I'm familiar with it.

Interesting. Never heard of that before, nor did I experience anything like that with my 5" GT9. Surely it must be how the trigger was adjusted - there are so many ways to change that trigger I was almost afraid to experiment so I only did a few minor tweaks. Anyway, curious to know what the issue is. Good luck and report back

I've never experienced it, but I agree; probably the gun and probably not you.

Kiss my *ss if the Pardini doesn't look like the old Benelli B76. Of course, I am sure the Pardini is much better built then the old Benelli B76. While I was always a fan of the B76, they were pretty coarse in some area's. Just sayin'
Best of luck on the trigger slap. I can tell you that the slide recoil forces are translating into the lockwork for some reason. You would have to go thru the pistol part by part and see what is inducing the force transfer.

Yeah, they have the same grip angle, but that's where the similarity ends. The Pardini is a rather conventional locked breach design. The B76 uses a somewhat complex and unique lever delayed blowback system.

Yes, the Pardini is a better quality piece, but the B76 is a well built gun. The stamped and welded frame is a bit cheap, but everything else is high quality.

Here's my GT9 and B76 together...

Benelli made several pistols based on the B76, to include a fancy SAO target pistol called the MP3S. Below are my Benellis (B76, MP3S 32WC, MP3S 9mm, and B77).

Nice, bac1023. They do look quite similar, if only in apperance. And no wonder I can't find a good clean B76 anywhere, because I have always wanted one. You seem to have all of them...lol! Really doesn't matter I guess because spare mags are more rare than the pistol itself.
But good for you, bac, nice collection. I am jealous.

Thank you every one for your replies, they have been very helpful.

Pardini USA is testing the pistol and says that although they have not yet diagnosed the problem, they guarantee to have it back to me by next week. Since they say that they haven't yet felt the trigger slap, even after firing several magazines, I am not sure how they can diagnose it, fix it, and get the gun back to me by next week. If they do pull that off, I will be really impressed.

Yuns, I too thought it may have something to do with using the wrong recoil spring. But using the heavier of the two-the medium weight spring, I believe- caused no appreciable change in trigger slap.

Lifesizedpotato, your YouTube vids intriduced me to some of the best handguns in my collection. Thanks for creating that content.

Bac1023, after being introduced to crazy expensive 9mm pistols by lifesize, your High-end centerfire pistol buyers guide helped me rationalize the purchase of even more awesome pistols. Thanks for writing great reviews and taking great pictures.

Thanks Blaise. The link in the signature below is a much more extensive review of high end pistols. More entries, better pictures, and better content.

I sure hope they can get it fixed so you can enjoy the gun to its potential. It's like driving your new Ferrari with two flat tires or a blown turbo.

From the way you described the problem, it sounds like they're in denial mode more than anything. I don't have much direct experience with their service but from some stories I've heard, they don't strike me as having next-level customer care. Please keep us posted!

Hi Blaise!
Is there any news from Pardini?
Unfortunately, I have exactly the same problem with Pardini GT9 6" with the slide vents.
I'm quite sure that the problem is not induced by my shooting technique. I have а dozen of quality pistols including SIGs (210s, 240s, X5, ...), Benelli MP3s, Hammerli etc. and I've never experienced something like this.
And "I have tried adjusting the trigger to compensate and have had very little success" as well.
There is some kind of wrong back coupling with trigger.
