PAL vs NTSC

    On the edge but not quite over ...
    A friend in Scotland gave to me a tape. It's marked "VHS" but when I try to watch it the picture quality looks like the tracking is way off. Is this a situation of PAL vs NTSC? Yes, the VCR works, I played, successfully, a different tape.

    Yes. PAL plays 25 frames per second and NTSC plays 30. It's possible to import PAL tapes through the media card on your computer, but you'd need the right setup to do it.
