Well everyone's schedules worked out just right so that a bunch of my friends and I were able to get together for a good game of "inflict physical pain on others for your own amusement" :whistling:

Unfortunately, it's been hovering around freezing for a good while now, and the paintballs are HARD! I'm usually pretty decent about not getting hit, but I got NAILED in the shoulder twice, and by god my right arm feels like it's about to fall off. Got some decent bruises even through a sweater and field jacket.

So remember folks, warm those babies up unless you just really don't like your opponents!

It's a paintball tradition that if you're playing against relatives, the paintballs need to be placed in the freezer the night before.

I love playing in cold... until I take a finger hit. Even with gloves that hurts like a mofo.

How about getting hit behind the ear, that always feels good.

I'd almost choose to take a hit in the bad place than a hit in the finger. However my pants have so much padding in that area that I never really feel anything.

OP I'm surprised that you didn't know that frozen paintballs hurt before you started the game. Freezing the balls is one of the oldest pranks...and almost as mean as shooting ball bearings. At least you had a good time! That is all that matters!

I let my daughters talk me into trying this once and the paintballs weren't even frozen.
Let me just say I learn from my mistakes the first time.

I used frozen painballs to "eliminate" a pesky dog from my yard a couple years back. So based on the dog's reaction to being hit by several frozen paintballs... yeah I would say it hurts like hell!

Not unless you're playing speedball with against a trigger happy player.

Frozen paintballs are actually much much more fragile and hurt less than being shot by regular paintballs.

The reason some paintballs hurt more than others is due to people using old, cheap paint, usually crap they buy at wally world

If you don't believe me then try it for yourself. Get some paintballs and put some in the freezer, and keep some at room temperature. The next day take them all out side and drop them one at a time from about 8 feet. Notice how the frozen ones will tend to break far easier than the ones kept at room temperature

I've taken neck, behind the ear, groin, and hand hits, and none have hurt for this long. And yeah, they were cheap paintballs, it was a kinda spontaneous event.

I played last night in Chitcagoland and we were even "inside" a warehouse and I took one glancing blow to my belly that stung like hell and one direct it to where my neck meets my chest and it drew blood! Huge raspberry today. But damn, it sure was fun!

Remember when people would fold up the bottom half of their mask for tournaments? Getting hit right above the adam's apple will put you down. Ouch.

    I haven't played for years though... :(
My speedball habits got too expensive to continue. So I sold my gear and moved on.

I always thought that was retarded. But that's cause I hated getting neck hit in the back of it, so I didn't wanna see how much it would hurt for the front.

I quit speedball for a bit and went to stock class and open class pump play. Great way to save money

Yeah, I had a full-on speedball kit that was in the $3k range, but when I moved up to Amarillo I really never used it anymore, sold it for almost what I had in it to someone on ebay. Now I just have one of the cheap Spyders they have at Academy and a cheapo mask. Works fine the few times a year I use it.
