I am planning a hiking trip along the PCT near Mt. Hood. Has anyone made this trip? Any suggestions on equipment. I will be going in the summer.

I've been on some of it and parts are a bit unkept.

Would be interested to contact the USFS and find out for sure if you can open carry in the nat'l forest. I like fishing the Clackamas, and parts of it that I like fishing are in the bounds of the nat'l forest...also like Timothy Lake. Would be nice to be able to carry up there. Some odd people up there when it's warm out, as well as some critters that I'd rather not meet defenseless.
