    Sorry....

40 guns were stolen from Kerper's gun shop in Brecknock Township, Lancaster County. The Ephrata State Police Department says the public's safety is now at risk.

"40 weapons are out on the street today that weren't there yesterday and they're in the hands of someone that shouldn't have those weapons," says State Police Sgt. Richard D'Ambrosio.

D'Ambrosio says the burglar forced his way into the shop through a front door at about two-o'clock Wednesday morning. The burglar alarm sounded and the owner arrived on the scene. But, within minutes, police say the suspects were gone.

Police say an assortment of rifles and handguns were taken.

"A list of the guns has been provided to us, so we do have the serial numbers on all of the weapons which will help us keep track of them," explains Sgt. D'Ambrosio.

Ephrata State Police says it's processing the scene and looking for any evidence that may provide some answers. The Department says this case, not only, makes things dangerous for the public, but also, for local police departments.

"This is something that's gonna concern us because these weapons are going to be transported in vehicles. Officers need to be aware of that, cognizant of that, when they're going up to vehicles on traffic stops," explains D'Ambrosio.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is assisting state police. The Bureau is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for any information that leads to an arrest.

To report information to police you can call the Ephrata State Police Barracks at 717-721-7667 or the ATF at 1-800-ATF-GUNS.

    Thanks!

Holy frejolies! That's quite the pile of guns. I'll bet Bloomberg will blame PA's lax laws when they show up in NYC, though.

    That's pretty close to home.
I'm sure they will recover most of the guns.

For quick sale: FTF only. Forty guns in as-new condition, serial #'s slightly defaced, because decops could trace dem.
