Had one delivered to the FFL last Wednesday and got it to the range today. I have had a few different .40's, this is the first one that felt comfortable to shoot. It just seemed to soak up the recoil well.

I haven't shot a DA/SA in over 8 months so I kept the distance between 5 and 7 yards, was nice to see my first magazine(13 rounds) was one hole about 3 inches across.

I was talking to the guy working the counter at the range and I had to laugh when he said Glocks are functional and reliable but HK's are just special. I love my 17.5 and 19x(my 19.4 serves a purpose for CCW but I can't say I enjoy shooting it), and if those were the only two I could have I would be fine with it. He was right though, just something special about an HK.

Good choice, I run Underwood +p+ 115 grain 9mm in my p30, it soaks it up. I've been wanting one in 40.

I carry an HK P30 V3 .40. If you like the medium backstrap don’t monkey with it. Once you take it apart the first time, the small and medium backstraps wiggle. The large will not. I have mine set up with the large backstrap and small side panels.

Mine was about $580, delivered to my FFL because I used the layaway plan. I think you can get the .40 at CDNN for $499 + $20 for shipping. They are worth the $800 price tag they carried about 2 years ago, no brainer at their current prices. Mine is a BD date code, hard to believe it has been sitting in stock for 5 years.

I have the P30L V3 in 40 and love it. It has less felt recoil than small 9’s in my opinion. No issues with 165 or 180gr brass ammo of any brand.

I can’t get over how improved the trigger is over the USP. The DA is smooth and the SA is very good. I am more accurate with the P30 than I am my Glock 22 and 23. As far as reliability goes——it’s an HK. From easy to load mags to easy to seat fully loaded mags to precise fit and finish, they just work. The finish is excelent and while you will experience holster wear, rust is not an issue. They treat the metal surface like Glock did and Walther does. The HK P30, in .40, has sone muzzle flip but I got that sorted out in 200 rounds. I like to carry with a round chambered and doing that with a long DA hammer pull works for me. I will tell you Glocks will always be my first love but I have been very happy with this P20 after 25 years of serious pistol shooting.

You can still grab P30’s in .40 for $500. That’s what I paid for mine and I got my P30L when the two extra mag promotion was going on for $550. Looking for a P30S or P30LS now if I can get them for the same price or less just because. It’s worth it to get the LE models if you can get them. The premium is less than a set of night sights alone and you get an extra mag also.

Forgot to mention, I got my VP40 tactical LE for $429 new when the two extra mag promo was going. Five mags with that deal also. Probably one of the best gun deals I’ve snagged in a while.

    Love my P30 in 9mm. I has some .40 ammo, so I will consider a P30 in .40.

    For a P30, yes. DA/SA with Decocker.

I haven't seen a P30 in a local shop till yesterday when I found a v3 in 9X19 for 600 bucks out the door-it came home with me, needless to say. Though it is going to take me a bit of time to get used to having a de-cocker on the back of the weapon-that’s OK. I suppose if I don’t adapt to it, I’ll keep it for a range-toy. As it is, I’m considering having it replace the G19 as my EDC-high praise indeed.

Put 250rds through the new P30 this morning. 200 of the Federal Al case ball and 50 Underwood 115gr+p+ stuff. That Underwood has some snap!
Not a bad way to spend the 4th-shooting a new gun.
