The long take up is what makes it safe. Keep your finger out of the trigger guard and you're not likely to have a negligent discharge.
Greater familiarization with the gun will probably help you to be more than swapping parts. You say that it's the "Lite" version of the LEM trigger, so maybe HK would be able to change it to the "standard" version if there is such a thing. I'm a Glock guy so I don't know much about HK's.
