Was wondering if it's safe to fire +p ammo in the .45 glocks, I know it is probably safe in the 21 but what about the 30? And how is the kick/bite of the +P cartridge, is it more like shooting the Glock 29 10mm with full power loads?

I would be using the Winchester Ranger 230gr +P ammo.

    Any and all comments welcome...

    Thanks!

My experience with the +P loads in .45 are stout but still less than full loads of 10mm in the same firearm.

No problem with +P or even the mighty .45Super. The G21 is a rare bird, in as much as it's a .45acp that's built on a 10mm platform. The G20 was designed around the old NORMA spec 10mm loading, so the G21 is actually WAY overbuilt for standard .45acp loads.

I was reading more into .45 super for my camping/hiking protection needs, what weight recoil spring should I run with 45 super?

I've used +P loads as well without any problems.

+1 Although I did switch to 230gr standard pressure Golden Sabers to minimize the difference between my self defense ammo and practice ammo.

The late Jim Cirillo used +P ammo in his G30; he knew a thing or two about "Guns, Bullets, and Gunfights".

21# spring in the G30 and a 22# in the G21. Then I really don't believe you could kill either one of them in 3 lifetimes of shooting +p OR Super for that matter...

    This is odd:

    From G30

    CorBon 185 +P DPX 1005 fps/415 ft lbs
    Rem 185 +P GS 1000 fps/411 ft lbs
    CorBon 230 +P JHP 905 fps/419 ft lbs
    Hornady 230 +P XTP/TAP 890 fps/405 ft lbs

CorBon 160 DPX (standard pressure) 1100 fps/430 ft lbs

The standard pressure 160 DPX recoils way less (feels like standard 230 ball), has more energy, penetrates and expands just fine too(at least 12/.75 or better).
