He is a fellow from India offering black magic love potions, spells, and powders during the late evening/early morning hours. Apparently, some of the side effects include getting wealthy, having that burning sensation when you pee go away, becoming an ultimate chick magnet, and becoming a Bollywood star.I dont know who this is were talking about , mabey I already put the ignore button on him.
So I should be required to open a Paypal account (I don't have or want one) and pay 5.00 because some idiot is posting here? I don't think so...Bad ideaEasy solution - require a $5.00 PayPal payment to open an account. Brings in some hosting cash and eliminates the vast majority of the scum ...
They nearly always use one username each time. First time you see it, click the username, click Ignore, and reload. Problem solved, albeit temporarily...
I think I have the answer that would be simple and effective. As a new member of just under one month, I still cannot post in the political forum, so the owner/mods can apply a rule for new forum members. Here is my suggestion.
1) In the forum rules, state that new members can only post in the new member introductions forum. The spammers would likely get frustrated that they don't have permission to post in 95% of the site forums, but even if they do post their crap in the introductions forum, they still have more steps to complete.
2) Allow only one new thread per member before they complete step 3.
3) Require 10 post "likes" before any new member is allowed to post in the other site forums while keeping the current one month rule in place for certain forums.
These three simple steps would allow the established members to police all spammers and take some load off the moderators. It would be super easy to report any spammers since the crap would be limited to one forum and one new thread and the spammers would get no "likes". I don't know if it's possible in the forum software, but ideally there could be a "ban" icon in the new member introductions forum an if any members gets 5 "ban" hits, gets kicked-off the site.
What do you think?
I didn’t think about that ignore feature. It cleaned up the pages pretty quick! Thanks
Click Report TriAngle, it will be gone soon, the SPAMMER that is. Mods do not live for playing policemen, spammer are everywhere. Like FORUM HEMMORIDS, big pains in backside,
I report the first one I see as spam and then put the sender on my ignore list. It works.
Click on the OP's avatar, click ignore then click recent posts....all gone and it takes about 5 seconds.
Just below the reply box, there is a link for "contact us". When I use it instead of the triangle report button, I do get a reply from Carbon Media after the spammer has been deleted. Not sure if the same report from the contact us button goes to the mods , but it is another way to report the spammers.
Please do immediately report these posts using the Report function...Been seeing a lot of it lately. I click alert and let the mods fix it.
As I stated, require a nominal payment to open a new account. There is no function to open a new existing account, if you will . This would have no impact on the gazillion or so existing members. You think people would pay to post here?
