I thought I remembered reading that according to federal law, a full time student is allowed to purchase a handgun in the state where they are being educated, even if they are a resident of another state.

Did I dream this one up, or is it correct? If I am correct, can anyone point me to a section code that talks about this.

    thanks.

The ATF has a revenue ruling on this. It dosent even say f/t or not, the ruling is based on WHERE YOU LIVE AT THE TIME.

If you live in state A and go to college in state B, while living in state B, you are a resident of state B and are allowed to buy guns in state B.

When you move back to state A, you are a resident of state A and may buy guns in state A.

Refer to the FAQ in the green book.

Get a state ID card for the state you are going to school in. Thats what I did. My license is from Illinois and I have an ID card for Louisiana. That way you can buy anything you want.
