The Director is only a Colonel? Doesn't he and his predecessors have egos that can only be satisfied by one or two or four stars? I'm impressed.

The Colonel and Lt Colonel are appointed positions.
Our current Col came over from Secret Service and has been here about 4 or 5 years.
The Lt Col came up through the ranks and was selected (I think after he made Major). We might get another Colonel when we get a new Governor (current Gov not eligible to run again), but we will have to wait and see.
