    1. The parking lot is confusing and laid out like a maze.
    2. The front entry doors weigh like 2 tons which make them tough to open.
    3. There is some guy who stares me down every time I walk in the store and says, "Hi, welcome to Bass Pro."
    4. But the thing that really gets me is that they have trigger locks on all their guns and will not take them off so you can test the trigger.

    Are they all like that?

    Sounds communistic.

Especially that guy at the door, who does he think he is? :tongueout:

Seriously though, the trigger locks are ridiculous and I hate them.

Around here, they only keep the trigger locks on for guys that have a hard time opening the doors and small children. :tongueout:

Pretty much, I like how they charge an extra $200 bucks on all their handguns to try and sucker you into a credit card to "take $100 off your next purchase" or something like that. $750 for a G21, seriously? I just laugh.

I live about 5 minutes from the one in Cincy. It is pretty much the same. Highest prices around.

I like Bass Pro for certain things, but firearms are not one of them.

Their prices suck, and their selection is even worse.

When I saw the prices on their handguns, I just walked away. The clerk asked me what I was looking for as I was leaving. I realize that he did not set the prices. I politely told him that their prices were too high. He even said that he gets that a lot. He seemed like an OK guy. I just wonder if they sell many handguns there.
I don't know anything about them keeping gunlocks on since I did not stick around.

They are good for fishing stuff. I agree that the hunting gear, guns and ammo are overpriced. They need to adopt a wal-mart buy in huge bulk offer deep discounts or they will fall. The Internet with cheaper prices and no sales tax offers serious competition.

The only thing bp offers is for those who impulse. Seriously, if they don't reduce their prices they could go under, especially in this economy.

I was browsing the guns and asked the counter guy about a Blackhawk .45 convertible. He said not only that BP didn't have one, but that such a thing was not possible, since .45 Colt and .45 Auto are different. I explained about the extra cylinder and asked him to search for BN-445XL and he pretty much told me I was an idiot.

How about some more complaining? That is what we need more of in this world.

Could be worse. He could be saying "can I see your receipt please" or "sir, you need to pay for this watch".

What, one need a permit just to vent now?

What the shucks is wrong with complaining, it's how things get changed. It's not like there isn't enough to complain about anyway.

I like bass pro, but the last time I was there I heard the employee telling a customer that glock's do not have a loaded chamber indicator...

I work about a 1/2 mile from the Harrisburg, PA store. I spend a lot of time there on my lunch looking etc.

I was talking to one of the gun counter guys once, and he said something to the effect of...

"We're not a gun store, we're an outdoors store that also sells guns".

    Makes sense to me.

As to the trigger locks, at the one I go to at least, if you ask to handle any firearm without the lock on, they've taken me into another room and taken the lock off.

Their are prices are so-so. I bought my 17 from them for $499 in 07. If I didn't like their price, I can shop somewhere else. Now if you want to talk about obsurd prices, take a look at a Gander Mountain.

What kind of man complains publicly about doors being too heavy and difficult to open?

    Are you 86 years old?

I asked the desk if they sold moonclips for my S&W 610. "Never heard of them, what's that?"

Now I don't expect these hourly guys to know a lot particularly given the wages they get paid, but they do sell S&Ws that use moonclips... and obviously don't know that.

They do have online specials which, if you watch close enough, you can grab ammo pretty cheap...

Perhaps one that finds the doors too heavy and difficult to open?

    Noway goes to BassPro for maybe a half-dozen items;

    Fishing/Hunting/duck stamp renewal
    lead sinkers
    falcon or allstar rods
    Archery Rannge
Stainless Steel boat hardware since the west marines is to far away.

Other than that I have to agreed with the OP. Best BassPro i 've been to is Orlando. And it seems like each one has certain areas more marketed based on that area.

    e.g

Orlando Fl does good for salt/fresh wtaer
Dania BchFl has better Saltwater items
St Charles/Mo seems to have better archery and hunting gear

Sounds like you may be better off in Bed Bath and Beyond!:whistling:

It's a MAN'S store with a MAN parking lot and MAN doors!
Prices aren't great, selection could be better, but it's better than Wal-Mart!

I don't mind that they don't know much about guns, but the fact that they think they know more than everyone who shops there is a little irritating.
