The NRA, only. The strength of an advocacy group is in the number of votes it represents. Congress is terrified of a group that has 5 million members but they don't know the names of any of the rival groups and they never will.

Find your active state organizations they have been effective in our legislature. In fact they got started after the NRA caved on something years ago.

I'm an NRA life member. Been a member since about 1977. As was said earlier, they won't get another cent from me until Wayne is gone and they become what they pretend to be.

I agree, definitely need to be informed and active on a state level. I've often wondered why NRA doesn't have active state level organization other than NRA affiliated gun clubs, which support big NRA with proceeds generated from dues and annual banquets and such, but don't seem to be politically active.

That's been my dilemma, the NRA is the only one that really seems to have the ear of politicians. Unfortunately their business practices have alienated many of their members and driven them to fund lesser equipped organizations. They seem ripe for a hard fall.

but really, the NRA is the only organization that has the numbers of members to get the politician's attention.

There is NO DOUBT that if it wasn't for us NRA members for the last 50+ years, we the people would be lucky to be able to own a 22 single shot rifle today.

I would recommend staying and helping to fix it. If it falters or stumbles, the left will be emboldened and believe they caused it. If you want Va laws nationally then let the NRA weaken. You know there are RINOs that would block vote with the leftists on gun control...

Thinking about that last night. We need some sort of federation or conference nationally that brings all the gun rights advocacy groups, state, local, national, under one umbrella. Think about it, what is the combined head count of all the gun groups members?

We were in a different hobby club years ago that was member of a national federation. The little clubs could not affect a mayoral election in a small town but combined membership effected legislation on state and national levels... and all we did was collect rocks.

It's called "The National Rifle Association."

The other groups are known for accepting your money and foolishly endangering our gun rights with psuedo-legal "just say no" nonsense, because that's what convinces the ordinary mall ninja - guys who show up at the state capitol with their tactical kevlar helmets and ARs - to give them more money.

Keep in mind that the NRA does much more than 2A lobbying .... things like marksmanship training, Eddie Eagle safety program, LEO support, shooting range support, high school and college rifle team support, national matches, etc. I don't particularly like everything I hear about their execs either, but I'm not about to "cut off my nose to spite my face."

None of them have the clout of the NRA. I am a Life Member and send contributions regularly to the NRA-ILA. But I am also a member of the GOA, and the ISRA (Illinois State Rifle Association).

I like the stance of the JPFO but I have no idea if they are more than a handful of people and I doubt that they have much influence with anyone. Their website is noticeably silent about the size of this organization, leading me to believe it is tiny.

WAC is mostly about their gun shows. I am a member there as well.
