Do you suppose if someone was selling hotdogs and soda to the protestors without a license he would get arrested? Protestors gotta eat too. A guy could make some money.

Guarantee the military will be there, and the perimeter should be at least a mile away from the White House. This is dim bull****.

    https://www.theatlantic.com/politic...crime-bill-and-americans-short-memory/597547/

You want to hear "irony". It was Biden whom as a Senator was a "get tough on crime" guy starting with the Reagan years. Even Reagan, no friend to criminals, blanched on some of the proposals Biden was making. RR was a decent man.

It was Biden who wrote the 1994 crime bill when "get tough on crime" was fashionable. Remember Hillary's "super predators statement"? So what did that bill do? At least in the city's?

It took Policing from in the face beat officer community relations that worked for decades and turned Policing into statistics, pie charts, and property confiscation. The Politicians and the Boss's needed numbers to justify their federal funding and put the heat on everyone under them to get them, anyway they could.

All of a sudden we went from being beat cops to all these specialized units being created to become the "numbers police". Most of the drug pinches were for BS amounts and it hit black kids especially hard because Bidens bill made crack cocaine pinches a lot more serious then regular coke and the 'hoods were being eaten alive from crack cocaine.

So mass incarceration resulted, at the time America had 25% of the worlds prison population, because Joe Biden wanted to ride the "get tough on crime" wave, as did the Bush's, as did Clinton, as did Obama. It poisoned Police/Community relations with all the street stops, head hunting, property confiscations. We didn't make the rules, not now not then, so who were the knuckle heads responsible?

And entire generations of black kids got jailed in Biden's mass incarceration scheme for mostly irrelevant amounts of drugs. You may not know it but many of these kids have very little hope to begin with an a arrest number and maybe prison time only guarantees they end up as "Lifers' in the system. The dope gangs use kids for a reason and they dont care if they get eaten alive.

All this is what was portrayed in HBO's "The Wire". They beefed up Police Dept.'s, hell in my class I'd see gang tattoo's in the academy shower after gym they were hiring anybody. A lot of cop's got caught up in the incredible profits of the drug trade, even good cops turned bad. We had an entire District made up of mostly ex-gangbangers. And nobody profited more then the Politicians.

But the worst part was the numbers and the destruction of beat policing. It ruined the job. In '84 the public and the business's loved us and now look? A lot of us just stopped crushing these kids for minor amounts tho we risked our jobs doing so. And who ended it? Trump did, he signed the reform bill to try and stop this nonsense.

So now its 2020 and Joe Biden is the Great White Hope for championing criminal justice and Police reform. The very Svengali who created much of the problem in the first place. All its takes is a compliant news media for the chameleon to change his colors again. One of the original swamp creatures, "working class Joe" champion of the people.
