Tapco magazines are not quality magazines.

Check out the drop tests on youtube.

My Tapco magazine is incredibly flimsy and lacks all the reinforcements needed to make a good AK mag.

With East German Bakelite mags going for $40, Tapco is trying to cash in on the retro Cold War look. I have a few of their desert brown mags, and to tell the truth, they work just fine. Though not quite as sturdy as Tapco, even the Promag versions have worked just fine for me. Sure, you drop one loaded on concrete, it's gonna split... but so have my Bulgarian synthetic mags and my AR-15 Pmags.

After training in Canada and in Israel, I learned never to take plastic mags into combat. They're great for the range. Bakelite just seems right for a 5.45 rifle.

There are better deals to be had. I got 3 Circle 21 plum mags from local surplus dealer for $50 OTD. Great considering they're fully reinforced and just plain awesome with my plum furniture.
