i am considering a ghost ring set up for my 34, but are they really great sights? I wonder how accurate they are or if they are just for quick sight acquistions....
    Opinions welcome

Reasonably fast but no faster than a notch and post sight with proper ratios. On something very short like a pistol there is not enough sight radius to get good precision.

I shot one for a while and found it was not a good deal. Less precise at range, and slower up close; loosing sight of the front blade every time it recoils out of and back into the ring slows you down. It seemed like there was in mid-range sweet spot where it shot a little faster that a standard sight, but the sense of speed was fleeting.

The Gunsmith at my local range was carrying a Glock (in a holster) with Ghost Rings. I asked him about them and he said he liked them. I'd imagine if a Gunsmith, being so knowledgeable & experienced chose those for his own gun, they must be pretty good.

Gunsmith's are not "all that". If you went and asked the smith in my town for a Limited gun he'd probably grind off the front sight and plug one of the holes in the cylinder. We had one old guy in our ipsc club that really liked the GRs and he fully acknowledged that it had more to do with his vision issues.

I'm not saying they dont or cant work for you. But when you get really tuned in and you're driving the front sight in a very active and aware fashion, you'll not like having them not available to be seen twice per shot.

The HexSite's claim to fame is that it allows the shooter to find the center of the "circle" faster using the horizontal marks.

Personally, I find this to be just this side of bovine excrement because the human eye will naturally line the front site post up in a ghost ring.

    Howdy, my first post...:)
I just recently put the Advantage Tactical Sites on both my 23 and 27. All I can say is, wow, they are fast. Check em out.
and no I dont work for them, just a LEO looking for something that works.

Good point CG.... its also worth while to note that scores of professional IPSC shooters, guys that feed their famlies shooting pistols fast and accurately, and who expierment endlessly looking for anything that will make them even fractionally more competetive, have been shooting the stuffing out of the standard notch sight for decades.

One thing I have discovered after going through annual "active shooter CQB" using simunitions, is that when the sh.t hits the fan and you are being shot at, you (I) instinctavily resort to point shooting and what kind of sights you have really does not matter. For this reason my personal choice was no longer worry about having night sights. Just another opinion to toss around.

Lambinator, when we go through training we must use "blue" Glocks that have the stock sights. I got hit in the hand by a "blue" full auto M4, Ouch!
