Owned all three. All nice. My suggestion is the HK P30. Slap on a Streamlight TLR-3 light. It is very ergonomic, not heavy, reliable, accurate, easy to maintain. Best of the Best. Actually, I own the CZ Shadow 2, HK P-30 and used to own the Beretta. I own an M-9 now.
Off topic a bit, but maybe he can try out the Sig M-17. Striker fired with thumb safety. I like it more than the others at this point. Consistent trigger pull. Accurate. Badazz.
Before he buys I highly recommend he try the trigger on the Langdon Tactical Beretta 92. Then he can decide if it's worth the extra bucks to him. Never thought I'd own a 92, till I was talked into dry firing one at the counter. I was sold. Hunted down a used one. I'm in love.
That may be, but the OEM mags have a metal base plate (that can bend when dropped on concrete), hold only 15 rounds, and cost more.
Another vote for the 92A1 over the M9A1. The girlfriend wanted a Beretta. The main reason she went with the 92A1 was three 17 round mags versus two 15 rounders, in the M9A1 box. The 17 rounders are nice gloss black. The 15 rounders are special flat silver finish.
I own CZ 75 SP01, HK P30L, and SIG P226 and love them all. From the list my choice would definitely be the HK P30L but as always one should go with what works best for them.
The Beretta is a great pistol. I had my fair share of time behind an M9 and always scored expert qualifying with it. But...it is not as ergonomic as the HK or CZ in size, shape or in terms of controls or simple slide manipulation. It also has (this may be different for the A1) some pronounced muzzle rise/bounce due to odd balance...notice how slender the muzzle area is, and it's rear heavy compared to most handguns. And the sights are in need of serious upgrade. Given the options I like the CZ, but like others have said, a Sig should be in the running.
^ I'd agree with this. The CZ will fit most hands better than a Beretta, and they can certainly be made to have fantastic triggers. I can't comment on HK P30 triggers.
The Beretta , because there are parts that can be found everywhere , the cartridge feeds directly into the barrel and doesn't have to travel up a ramp , and it is extremely reliable . I have the Beretta M9 and a CZ SP01 . But the Beretta should fit your son-in-laws needs.
Probably the Beretta, unless he can actually locate a P30L...then it can be pretend John Wick mode. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
