I just got in 440 rounds of Bulgarian 7.62x54R in a green spam can. No opener came with it. :crying:

I would like to cut open the spam can and put the ammo in ammo cans. Anyone got any suggestions on how to cut open the spam can without damaging the ammo? :dunno:

Tin snips and vice grips. Those things will go through anything.

As dumb as this might sound, would a normal can opener work?

I do think so, this can is solid and looks like the skin is tough.

I have never seen that particular can, however the ones I have owned always had a spot to start peeling. There was some type of tin solder sealing it up. Find the edge and grab it with the vise grips then pull and roll the tin back.

We used to get Aircraft Survivor Kits that came in sealed cans.
A note on the can said "Opener Inside".
