I want to have my machinist buddy (head of one of Winchester's plants machine shop and is very, very talented) open up the top of a G22 slide for a ported barrel I have. I was thinking about a 1.75-2" oval in the top over my porting. Anyways, is there anything you have to watch out for when doing this? Seems pretty straight forward to me since there are no internals there. Anyone done it before?

    Thanks,
    Spencer

It should work okay. If you cut much weight out you may want a heavier recoil spring as the slide velocity may increase a fair amount. You would have to test it first as the ports could alleviate the problem before it starts. Just be careful to not damage your gun.
