have had a full beard since I retired- about 10 years. full Duck Dynasty. Trimmed it this summer to about 1.5 inches- number 5 on my shaver.
today was going to give it the last trim before letting it grow for the Buffalo winter, set it at 5 and set to face.
I forgot to put the guard on it so I shaved a big spot down to the skin. so now I am sporting a mustache and some very pale skin.
down side- the beard had been hiding wrinkles and age all suddenly out there for the world to see.

OOP's I keep mine short, but I've never forgot to put the guard on the shaver.

Ha. That's how mustaches get shaved off and re-grown, too. ;)

Matter of fact, I just went to trim my below-the-chin mustache handles (think Orange County Choppers dad) and didn't check the height setting on the guard. Ended up at 2-day growth length on the handles. Good thing I didn't start trimming the mustache above my upper lip before one of the sides. :animlol:

That's also how I occasionally revert back from a goatee to a long handlebar mustache ... by making a trimming mistake on some part of the goatee.

I knew exactly what happened before I even opened the thread.

Been there, done that... I now treat my clippers like a loaded gun and check and double check everything before I make the first cut.

I'm pretty with or without a beard, but I prefer to be pretty with a beard...

Pictures or it didn’t happen. Lol
I’ve done the same. Just over a month ago, I had a full ZZ Top beard, and messed up trimming. Lol

Got tired of mine, for the Summer in the Tropics, and chopped down 3 months back. Down to the goatee anyway.

Almost time to let the foliage re-commence.

(I have forgotten the guard too in the past :) )

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one that has made this kind of mistake!

I do that once in a while. I'll wake up first thing in the AM, and only shave ONE SIDE of my face. I'll let it buck until the wife gets up, I like to see how long it takes her to notice. About 5 minutes is average.

I don't have a beard but I have a very long goatee and I've done that before. When my daughter was four I did it and completely ruined my goatee so I had to shave it, I went ahead and shaved my mustache as well, so I was completely free of hair on my head except for my eyebrows.

My daughter had never seen me without my goatee and when she did, she cried and was scared something bad had happened to me.

I had a full beard when my daughter was young. I put her down for a nap one afternoon and decided to shave while she was napping. She looked very confused when I went to get her out of the crib.

At the time, I had blonde hair but deep auburn-colored whiskers, so the change was pretty noticeable.

In high school, I had a beard when I met my then-girlfriend, who went to a different high school. After school, she would keep the scorebook for the local Little League. I would pick her up after the games, and we would grab something to eat, etc.

One afternoon after school, I decided it was too hot for my beard, so I shaved before going to the ball field. I stood in the parking lot overlooking the field with her father, who didn't recognize me immediately.

The games were finished, she turned in her books, and started walking up to the parking lot with one of the umpires. She walked right past me and her father (she did say "Hi, Dad" to him), saw my truck, and started looking around for me. The surprised look on her face when her father and I started walking to my truck was priceless.

I did no shave November a couple of years ago.

I doubt I will ever grow it out again. The only time it felt clean was right out of the shower and the itching drove me crazy.

Upside is I won the beard contest.

    Regards,
    Happyguy :)

I cycle my beard. I'll let it grow to about 5" before cutting it down to stubble or a clean shave. Even at almost 56, I have a Santa beard.

My beard sucks. Genetics. Also can't connect sideburns for anything.
