Just got an email from my parents that they want to take the family to see Book for Mormon over Christmas. They're cool enough to know that it's extremely popular and funny, but perhaps not that it was created by the South Park guys.

I've only heard a song called Hasa Diga Eebowai, and it wasn't one I'd want to sit next to my mom (who is pretty Catholic) while they're singing. Are there a lot of awkward bits or just this one?

    Thanks-

I haven't got a chance to see it yet, but I got the album and know all the songs. It's is very funny, I love it.

But beware, it's created by Matt Stone and Trey Parker and nothing is sacred to those guys. Has your mom ever seen South Park?

If your mom can take a joke, even when they contain blasphemy or bestiality, good for her; she'll have a great time. It's a great, award winning show.

I imagine that there are very few things more offensive than this play that you could take your folks to. Doesn't mean it isn't gonna be good and enjoyable, but they had better have rhino thick skin and a high tolerance for profanity!

I wanna see it so bad.....

Save your parents some embarassment and warn them that this is NOT for the easily offended and isn't appropriate at all for younger family members.

Every episode of South Park is on South Park.com. Say "hey mom, I think the show is great and I'd love to see it, but here the sense of humor behind the show.."

Show her "Woodland Critter Christmas" or "The Imaginationland Trilogy".

If she's still into it you'll be good to go.

FWIW, The Book of Morman is brilant.

Well that's out. Emailed the text of some of the songs and she said she didn't make it through a single one of them.

    Thanks for your responses everyone.

As long as they know not to take it as a real play based on the Book of Mormon. It's a spoof and should be taken as such. The only song I've heard is "I Believe." I hope they aren't offended easy.
