So I called Glock today and had an interesting chat. Turns out my newly acquired Gen 2 G19 was among the earliest batch imported. There may be a few alphabetically before my SN of DP, but DP were the first Gen 2 G19’s to cross the ocean. May of 88 test fire date code. Unfortunately some knucklehead brought it to Glock for a full parts upgrade, and it does not have a box. Also the finish looks very ‘worn’. I will likely hang onto this one. Am I farting on the Mona Lisa to put it in my carry rotation, or is it pretty will stripped of added value with its silver internals and no box? BTW, obviously same Glock I paid $450 for mentioned in prior thread.

Interesting. Two years ago I found a “BW” G19 at the local police supply. It was an LEO trade in. I bought it immediately after seeing it. The finish however was horrible. Stains everywhere from who knows what. All original parts though. I ultimately sent it back to Glock and had them refinish it. I understand the value may be lowered now, but honestly it wasn’t that high to begin with in the condition I found it in. Yours and mine are both used Glock’s. Unless it’s the ultra rare gen 1 G19, there isn’t a whole lot of value. Now, try to find another one and you might look for 5 yrs for a super early one. For that reason alone mine doesn’t get carried. I have other 19’s and 26’s to carry. This one sits in my safe and looks pretty....well, for a Glock anyways.

I wouldn't own anything I wouldn't use as intended, but I am not a collector.
The way I see it is a guns, a cars....... not using them so the value will not be affected is like not sleeping with your wife/girlfriend so the next guy can.

At this point I see no harm in carrying it. Even though it's one of the first 1000, it doesn't appear to be collector's grade, but that's not to say that some wouldn't want it for their collection.

Mine is DPxxx was probably in the same batch as yours. My serial number is about twenty numbers lower than yours. I carry and shoot mine.

Your picture looks like it has some holster wear so I don’t think carrying and shooting it will be a problem.

Very cool! Does yours have the STT date code? Would like to compare notes. Mine has a very tight lock-up when I push down on the barrel hood, like quality craftsmanship compared to other Gen 2’s I’ve messed with.

The other issue, mine was ‘upgraded’ unfortunately. Some knucklehead put in a standard trigger serrated trigger bar. Ours need part 1293 trigger bar for pre-EH Glock 19’s. I got this bar in the mail today (has a + on top of the cruciform). My sear engagement was about 1/3rd. Now it is pretty close to 2/3, maybe a hair under.

Noticed any quirks with yours? Like you say, I’m sure they came off the same production line. Would like to see a pic if you get a chance.

Mine doesn’t have a date code on the barrel. That’s what prompted me to call Glock in the first place. All it has on the barrel is the Glock logo and a pentagon. I emailed Glock a picture of it and they said it is a Glock OEM barrel, but they have no record of replacing the barrel.

Weird! Does yours have a SN on the barre?

WAG: barrel on your Gen2 G19 has to be a later replacement. Period barrel for Austria proof-marked gen1 & gen2 GLOCKs do not have a GLOCK logo and pentagon mark. Those came much later. Still, strange that the barrel does not have normal SN nor L SN.

Which is why I called Glock and asked about it. Both of my Gen-1’s have all the numbers and markings. The slide and frame numbers match. I sent Glock an email with photos and they said it was a factory barrel but they have no record of it being replaced.

Congrats, Glocktapus, like I mentioned in your other post, I own a few G-19's with two letter prefixes BX,FA,GS, HA, HV, and TO, also two letter prefix G-17's KV and ZC, I keep mine stock all black as from the factory except ZC which my wife shoots and GS, that I used to carry, all are locked up in their original Tupperware boxes with their original NDF mags.

I shoot ZC, and GS, every now and then using Gen 3 mags.

If a DP prefix was in the first shipment from Austria, our "B" prefix models must have been on that same boat.

The No-SN barrel is pretty neat/unusual itself!
I’m still curious. I’d like to know more about it, but Glock told me as much as they did you. The guy I bought it from didn’t know anything about it. He wasn’t a “Glock guy” and actually thought he had a gen-3. I told him it was a two and he shrugged his shoulders a little and asked if I still wanted to buy it.
