I saw a Les Baer Monolith heavyweight NIB for $1675.00. I am considering buying it. Initially after the feedback I got on Kimbers I was going to go ahead with the Stainless TLE II. How would you all compare the Les Baer Monolith Heavyweight with a Springfield TRP? I am totally confused on buying a nice 1911. Buying Glocks was easier!
    Thanks.

Most people are fairly happy with their TRP's.

I had a Monolith Heavyweight 1 1/2" ... with everything you can get ... Baer Coat ... Serrated rear of slide....Serrated top of slide • Checkering underneath trigger guard • Two-piece beveled mag well •
The Test Target was under 1"...
I would put it up against any Custom 1911 around,,,,,
The guy that I sold it to has 4 Wilson Super Grades and a bunch of other high end 1911's he called me a Month later saying it was one of the best 1911's he ever shot...
    (1)#..........1-1/2" groups at 50 yds.
    (2)#...........Fiber Optic Front Sight
    (3)#...........Hex Head Grip Screws
    (4)#...........Single side safety
    (5)#...........Checker Underneath of Trigger Guard
(6)#...........Serrate Top of Slide to Match Radius
    (7)#...........Serrate Rear of Slide
    (8)#......... Bear Coat finish
(9)#........ Full Length Guide Rod and Plug
    (10)#........ Two-piece beveled mag well
    (11)#.........Extra Extractor tuned and fitted
    (12)#......... Baer extended ejector

The TRP is one of the best production 1911s you will find but not in the same league as a Baer. The Baers are built on the tight side but they smooth out nicely the more you shoot them.

Those aren't very comperable models. The TRP is more comperable to a Les Baer TRS, and even then Les pistols are a notch above springfield (who still makes a damn fine 1911).

I have a TRP and you will be plenty well served by one. If you do a lot of target competition the the monolith is an excellent choice but its a purpose built gun. Make sure it fits whatever specs the game you shoot dictates. If you don't shoot a whole heck of a lot, save your money because you won't feel the difference.

Beyond any dispute the Baer Heavy Weight Monolith is the better gun. No dout the TRP is a very good gun, but the HWM would be compared with Springfield's custom shop guns.

Nice Bug-Eyed Sprite. The Les Baer Monolith Heavyweight is a cut above the Springfield.

Two great shooters, one world class pistol. LB MHW for the win.

Baer is certainly the nicer 1911.

I have a Baer PII and Stainless TRP. I like both, but if I had to have only one it would be the Baer. Mostly for pride of ownership reasons.

The TRP holds its own pretty well against the Baer, but fundamentally the Baer is made with higher quality parts and attention to detail. The TRP is still quite close though...

    GVFlyer thanks on the car.

Well, it's getting down to decision making time on the Les Baer. Just wasn't expecting to spend that much but fell in love with her once she was in my hands. Got some thinking to do tonight.
