I have a question on the Olympics.

As I'm sure everyone who isn't dead realizes American Gabby Douglas won the gold in women's Gymnastics. Good for her - she seems like a sweet kid. They call her the "Flying Squirrel."

Here's my question - if she's the "Flying Squirrel", who's Moose? :tongueout:

    (Sorry - couldn't resist)

Some advertising agent on TV yesterday said she will probably be set up for about 10 million dollars in endorsements.

Good for her. But shame on FOXNEWS for their slant on the gal:

I did notice the trend of the American Olympians not wearing outfits that display the Red, White and Blue more prominently.

I thought the inability to make the opening/closing cerimony clothing for American athletes in America was shameful...but I thought the statement from the company (name omitted) that they would make sure and get it right in 2014 was arrogant and insulting... That contract should be null and void and given to someone who can get it right the first time.

I'm not a fan of clothing made from or in the pattern of the flag, but I don't think it's asking too much to make sure the core colors are used and the flag is prominent on the clothing worn on the medal podium...if gymnast choose to wear pink or green or any color during their performance it doesn't phase me a bit. That sport (among several others) is judged subjectively and is presented in a more theatrical setting than say weightlifting or soccer. Pink sequins...while not obviously patriotic, are certainly acceptable in that arena. I think we can all agree that complacent news anchors are not the core audience for high level women's gymnastics and their high and mighty opinions should be taken with several grains of salt.

I am a little disappointed that the drab grey Nike jackets worn by lots of our athletes were not red, white, or blue...but not nearly enough to complain about it. It's more of a missed opportunity to impress than a mistake, but between that and the not made in USA clothing it does start to add up. A room full of people had to make those decisions, and not one of them considered those details...makes me shake my head.
