I just had my beloved G23 dated by TopGlock and it came back 2/92. I got it used a year ago, and it is in excellent condition, so the age suprised me. It has just 2 letters for the serial number. I know this is trivial, but does anyone have an older one?

According to TopGlock's dating my 23 s/n SL was made Feb. 1991. Still waiting for Glockmeister's date.

Glockmeister gave me the same 2/91 for the date.
Just on a side question. The .40 came out around '89 right? What is the date range for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gens? Was there ever a first gen model 23? Or did they start off in the 2nd gen era? Just curious.

The first .40 Glocks came out in 1990. Glock was, if my memory serves me correctly, the first company to come out with a .40 pistol. As for the cartridge, Winchester came out with the cartridge in 1990 as well.

There never was a first generation .40 Glock. The only 1st generation Glocks are the Glock 17, and to a much lesser extent, the Glock 19.

I believe the Smith and Wesson 4006 was out at or just before the Glock 22.
I know at the time we were considering changing our duty weapons, those were the only 2 .40 cal. guns available.

The Glock won out for a number of reasons. We still have all of the original purchase guns too. Not a problem other than routine maint. with any of them.:)
