Give them to auxillary officers or police explorers.

I know they used to send them to soldiers overseas to use as IED protection, but I wouldn't know how to get that process started. Sorry

We use them at the range for those who forgot to bring their own. You'll be surprised how fast those "shared" vests get grabbed.

Our department is donating old vests to the Armor of God Project. They refurbish old vests and give them to officers in departments that can not afford to buy vests.

They work well to line sand filled clearing barrels. You may find that giving them away isn't as easy as you would think. Lawyers and liability, need we say more?

Give them to your auxiliary officers, throw one in your trunk and mark it up for yourself in the event of an emergency your have protection and Identification.

Try asking your local sheriffs reserv officers if they want them.

Is Bulletproofme.com the only place that sells them? I graduate the academy Feb 17th and I'm going to have to shell out the cash for my own vest.

No. Any of the jobs I am up for are all small departments that you have to provide everything. If you want a vest, you need to get it yourself.

Another use for an old vest if you have an assigned car is to glue (construction adhesive) old vest panels to the inside of the front doors between the glass and the doorskin.

I'm a probation officer and our dept does not provide vests. But when the the local LE's departments (the chiefs, sheriff's) get new ones, they give us their old ones. We are extremely grateful and as far as the protection - gotta be better than nothing.

I take them to the salvation army. I figure the downtrodden would like to have them. Any way I can help the common man, ya know?

Be careful of leaving them in the trunk in wet weather or hot weather. That will degrade the material rapidly.

I've actually taken the panels out of my old ones and put them inside my shoulder bag so I always have a portable shield. I know it's not duct taped ceramic plates but I am also not taking .338 Lapua rounds to the back while my super model wife sets up a tactical thermonuclear device to take out the biggest retail mall in America.

One of my favorite quotes from that back and fourth was something like "If you plan is to take multiple rounds in the back then you need a new plan"

    Halarious.

And if you have reserves, that is a good place to donate too. Someone might back you up wearing your old vest LoL
