I'm a little embarrassed by this question, but I better ask anyway so I don't remain ignorant.... Up until recently, I have only owned a Glock and Kahr. As almost everyone here knows, they are super easy to clean, and it is a wonderful thing they require only a couple drops of oil in strategic places. And BEST of all, because of Glocks Tenifer finish, and the stainless matte on my Kahr, there is no "old school" oil wipe-down of the slide to protect the finish from fingerprints/rust. I just got a 4" XD45, popped its cherry, and am now ready to clean her. The cleaning, and functional oiling seems pretty basic, and comparable to the Glock and Kahr, BUT because of the difference in the finish on the [black] XD (don't know exactly what it is), I need to know if I am supposed to wipe down the outside of the slide with oil..... The manual was a little vague on this, and could be interpreted to imply this, but youtube video skipped it entirely. Thanks for the feedback.
