Several of Okie's friends belonged to the Muskogee sky diving and mud wrestling team. He finally decided to join up. He went throught the parachute packing class, PLF training, and aircraft exit procedure. He was getting ready for his first jump, and was haaving the safety procedure pointed out to him. The instructor told him that since it was his first jump, it would be static line, so he didn't have to worry about pulling the rip cord. In the unlikely event that the chute failed to open, there was a chest pack, and he was shown how that worked. The last thing he was told was that there would be a pick-up truck at the drop zone to take him back to the airport.

Up and away they went, into the wild blue yonder. Came time, and Okie jumped. After a bit he realized the chute hadn't opened. He was riding a streamer down. He resorts to the chest pack, opens it, and someone had forgotten to attach it to the harness; no chest pack. He rode that streamer down, thinking, "Damned pick-up probably won't be there, either........"
