I have two Glocks with rails and was wondering should Iput something on them. I have a G21sf and G19 with rails. I have been looking at light/laser combos and wonder what is available and what is the best value or do I even need a light/laser or just a good flashlight. All opinions appreciated.

    - Laser & light combo's have poor battery life, varies from device to device.
    - Laser or light alone have longer battery lifetimes, again it varies.
    - Need to find a decent holster if you want to carry it
    - HD guns make a nice firearm to add a light to

I have a Viridian GLK laser for my G22-- I never use it because I don't have a holster for it and even then I would encounter issues with inadvertently switching the device on. After having a laser for a while it becomes painfully obvious you'll have no real world application for it unless you're LE. At best, I think a laser for me would only be useful in the most bizarre of hypothetical situations.

I prefer my G22 for both EDC and HD and sometime soon I'll be ditching the laser for a Surefire x300 or Streamlight TLR 1 tac-light to slip on before dropping it on the night stand.

I've got a Streamlight TLR-1 on my nightstand pistol. -G22 its nice for the purpose but I'm not sure that I would want to carry it with the light mounted.

Hard to beat the streamlight TLR-2; the LED is extremely bright (maybe twice as bright at Glock's GTL21) and lasts a lot longer, laser seems to be as good as it gets without getting to the specialty stuff.

Also adaptable so that if you every switch to a different firearm you can use the adapters to attach to a 1913 rail, Beretta M9, etc etc.

Only downsides are that it's heavier than it seems like it should be and it's very very very difficult to close the battery door.

Lights and lasers are cool just don't get distracted by them, they actually require more practice and training to use than aim and fire and if you are using for home defense the BG is going to be attracted to it just like a zombie.

TLR-3 is a great light as well. Fits flush on a 17. I have one on my 19.

Probably 1/4 of it the other 75% is some light when you really...really need it. IMO but then the power here in FL isnt always too good...

Mine is 120lumens... same as my G2 surefire... but my surefire is like 30% brighter for sure.

    I own(ed) a Streamlight TLR-1 for my G19

It was amazing. I would use it as a handheld. It lights up entire rooms in pitch black with ease. I also shot with it on there and noticed no ill effects.

Unfortunately I lost it somewhere between moving from my mommys house into my place. I think I still have it somewhere.

Anyone have recommendations for something similar at a similar price? I dont know if I feel like buying another one just in case I do find it.

As for the light, I bought one ten minutes ago for my new G20. It was $99 at MidwayUSA. Had 15 five star reviews. Sounds like a nice light. I was here reading up for more info when I saw this thread.

Of all the units currently available I like the TLR-2 C4. It has good power and battery life for a decent price. They have a new one that is even brighter but it is still too pricey for me.
