It isnt just the principals it is the teachers as well. We had a juvenile who broke into an 80 yo man's home and beat him for his wallet. Putting the old man into a coma.

I went to his school to take him into custody. The female teacher tried to tell me I could not take him until they notified his parents as that was school policy.

I informed her that I could care less about school policy, that the boy was under arrest and going with me. And if she interfered she was going with me as well, In handcuffs for obstruction.

The school principal called to complain, my Chief told him the facts of life and then he called the school superintendent and told him to educate his people better if he didn't want the being arrested.

Very few police action infuriate the public more than parking citations...we finally trained civilian folks who were themselves disabled, to cruise and issue the citations...very difficult to argue with a person in a wheelchair who cited you for illegally parking in a HC spot...but I agree that if a warning had been given, then the citation was a good one/

Any prior bad blood between SRO and principal is irrelevant here, IMO. Repeatedly parked, warned, cited. Even, or especially with bad blood, principal ignored warnings repeatedly, if it was pissing contest over other stuff, she chose the wrong issue to escalate any feud they may have had.

Superintendent was wrong for his actions over this without bothering to get the facts.

Who posted him there? PD, or at request of school? Unless school made the request I can’t imagine they could actually have him trespassed. Did he get told to comply by his supervisor after school officials showed up to escort him out?

Scumbag principals. Should have brought that officer lunch for calling her out. Great learning moment for kids but instead they saw “privilege” in action. God forbid they actually need an armed response. They need to focus on academics.

Seems like there is so little info...IMO it almost qualifies as a lie.

There seems to have been proof this POS parked in handicap "extra room area" repeatedly. (Google photoes multiple times seem to show it in that space). Maybe fake?
It seemed well known that warning had been given. (Which there is no need) but person still parked in violation of law.
If (after warning) being held accountable to law you are publicly flaunting... Causes this POS to not be a professional. They should be removed.
The joke of "not able to discuss before ..public". Is BS you made decision, had him escorted off property. THAT was time to invite Officer, former Principal into your office. Deal with it. Give Principal option. Properly park SUV, pay fine, explain at next facility meeting why teachers should be a example... Or find a new job.

If he wrote every little thing I could see issue. "Object handling from mirror, crack lower right corner of windshield, cracked tail light lense, mudflap not properly secured, yr stucker on lic plate wrong side..." And ticketed it all.

Small town Officer noticed many expired lic plates. He noted it in Law news in paper, two weeks later he printed up a hundred ".this is to notify you you lic plates are expired, please get them updated" type thing. (I didn't get one, just saw it). At a school basketball game.
People were outraged the Officer would do such a thing. (Give a non recorded reminder)

So next week (after outrage) he stopped, ticketed everyone with expired. ( Near 30 as I recall)
Foks really ticked. I liked his response. "It was the law, they were warned TWICE and upset at warning. At least it makes some sense a ticket upsets them"

Looks like two too many. I wonder if the weather is crappy, who're the two non-essential personnel that don't have to show up?

Here in Lexington, the school district's response to the Parkland shootings last year was to raise the school tax to generate a huge amount of money for school safety improvements. If I remember correctly, the amount increased was something like $13 million a year.

The plan is to increase the size of the Fayette County Public Schools Police Department, which is a seperate agency from my department and a full-service agency with jurisdiction limited to school property, from only having officers assigned to the six high schools and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy for Excellence (which, like practically everything else named for MLK, is the alternative placement school for the worst of the worst delinquents) to having at least one officer in every school in the district. They're going to more than double the size of the agency and several of our folks have retired already to go work there.

I myself have decided to cast about for a new job, but I've spent enough time dealing with the school admin types over the years working in Crimes against children to know that gig is not for me. Weekends, holidays, and summers off sounds great, but not worth it to me.

I once went to the alternative high school (aka the last chance before expulsion) to interview a juvenile burglary suspect. As I introduced myself to him, the secretary told him that he doesn’t have to speak with me and had the right to have his parents present, and that she was calling them.

Okay, well, that forced my hand. Although I had enough PC to arrest him, my plan was for an interview, get more info on his accomplices, release him, and then get warrants for all of them. So I hooked him, took him to the substation where he waived and gave up his buddy, and then went to juvenile hall.

The issu with the secretary went via a sergeant to the principal and district superintendent. She kept her job, but gave us full and docile cooperation on our frequent subsequent visits.

I stayed out of the schools, "other then the bi-monthly gang riot". I had to fill in a few times and it was tortuous, definitely needing more of a "Peterson type" P/O then some street guy like me.

I liked weekdays off anyways. Better for hunting and fishing.

I can see both sides. Staff is supposed to help the kids. I would not be happy if teens (I cared for, not criminals) were questioned without parents around. Things can get messed up when it's adults. Teens....
But making it more work s also not good. Both sides have a point.
