The gun discharged accidentally while the officer was holding it. There is an interesting comment by another police officer about department policy on firearm safties. Also comments on the popularity of Glocks among LE organizations.

"while the office was holding it"

    doesn't go with "
    OPD officer's gun accidentally fired"

So sick of stuff written like this. Like the responsibility was the "gun's" to not go off.

I like how they say "accident" 500 million times in that story....implying no one is at fault, rather that just saying, an Officer *****ed up!!:wow:.....gotta love the media.

The gun 'accidentally' fired because the officer's 'BUGGER HOOK PULLED THE TRIGGER!'

Whats funny is usually the media is always out to make the Police look like moronic tyrants, I am surprised they are saying "accident".

Consider for a moment the quality of candidate you are going to find for the Owensboro PD. Is there any doubt the moron pulled the trigger? I love how the "reporter" googles accidental discharge to prove that this is a frequent occurence akin to Toyota throttle hangups. The next investigative hero! Right here in Owensboro! LMAO!

The story is intentionally gender neutral. :)

I had to log in with internet explorer to reply. What is up with the site's server and firefox? Hasn't worked in days.

So much wrong with that story, it's hard to start.

At least an officer was holding the glock when it decided to start firing on its own.

I've not used anything but Firefox here for about 4 years.

    What version are you using?

A story about "bad evil assault gun that shoots people and needs to be banned for the children" trumps a story about "moronic tyrant cop who negligently discharged his weapon".

Right here. Several Kentucky city police agencies have earned the reputation of being complete novices when it comes to firearms. You'd never think it would be possible for a state like Kentucky, with so many places to farm and hunt, to be able to produce so many non-shooters. It does a great disservice to those KY officers that are competent with their firearms.

The officer is lucky it wasn't on camera... otherwise it would be on youtube.
