Flagstaff police officer dies in apparent suicide

    Apr. 5, 2010 04:21 PM

    Associated Press .

FLAGSTAFF - Authorities say a Flagstaff police officer is dead from an apparent suicide.

Police said Monday that the body of Officer Rick Kellogg was found early Sunday inside his home and he died from a single gunshot wound.

Police say Kellogg was off-duty at the time and "all indications are that he was alone when he elected to take his own life."

Police say Kellogg worked for the department for six years. His age and other background information was not immediately released.

I had met Richard several times in a working capacity. He was a nice guy. Goes to show you never really know what is going on inside someone else.

I also know alot of guys at FPD. They have a great command staff that cares about their people. Times are hard for them right now. Keep them in your prayers.

Thank you for the information. Well definitely do keep them in prayer. May the peace of God be with those who are still alive and with their families. May
    Richard rest in peace.

Suicides is another danger of LE that is totally fatal. You would think with enough education we can eliminate this particular risk. I certainly don't have any answers.

    RIP Officer Kellogg.

It just keeps getting better, don't it?
Hope the officer is in a better place. Suicide is not the answer and causes more problems than it solves... but it happens.
