Are the office chairs for big and tall peeps a crap load heavier duty then the regular office chairs, or just a bit heavier duty:headscratch::dunno:

Methinks it all depends on how much $$$$ is spent on the chair. Most of them are kayrap.

    big & tall

    ....one way of putting it!

If you're looking at getting good quality office furniture, office chairs are just plain heavy. The base is often a pretty heavy part. I suppose a bigger one would be heavier, but these things already weigh a bunch more than Walmart-type furniture.

yes, they are generally considered executive chairs.most have a 400 LB capacity and a higher back and longer shock and tube for taller seat height.i`m sitting in one right now.
i`ve seen 500 pound capacity and more functions then anyone will need.all leather and steel,no plastic and very heavy.

not as heavy as this bad boy $1.5 million.....

The larger the inflated ego and misconceptions about one's abilities and value, the larger and more ornate the chair must be.

There was an occasion, years ago, when McAuto replaced some cube chairs. The new chairs had a five-spoke base, the old chairs, four spokes. Neither chair was demonstrably better than the other. Same maker, same color, same style, just different base.

I had no less than five people storm into my office and demand to know why Joe or Susie got a better chair than they had. Note that these are the same or very much like the folk that would measure the cubes and become incensed if they discovered someone else had 3 more cubic inches of space.

I solved the chair envy problem. Those that complained, I removed their inadequate, insulting chairs and they had to stand up all day.

I made the mistake of buying a cheap office chair. it crapped out after 3 years. I now have a great chair going on 7 years.

you get what you pay for.
