Lookin' forward to my 4th or 5th Buffett concert. Plans are all over the place...too many people, too much indecisiveness. Tailgate or bar? Tailgate then bar. Bar then tailgate? I think we may screw them all and just do what we want to do. If we see some people we know, cool. If not, so be it. Trying to make plans with a bunch of yahoos on Facebook sometimes sucks! LOL!
Cool! I love Buffet, I think there's an unwritten law that every boat must have at least one Buffet tape. I saw him several times in the Savannah Civic Center. Even cooler, to me at least, I saw him in the Night Flight Cafe on River St. in Savannah several times, both before he was famous and after. Even after he became famous he would occasionally give mini-concerts at the Night Flight after major concerts in the Civic Center. He had to stop because the crowds became unmanageable and the Night Flight wasn't very big. My brother knew him. He worked on a shrimp boat and the captain was a friend of Buffet's and a source of authenticity for some of his boat songs. They partied with Buffet after some of the concerts and took him out on the boat a couple of times. I was away at school and missed out. Enjoy!
So jealous. Have a great time, I have been to three Buffett shows, they never get old and are full of fun folks. I remember the last one at the Gorge in George, Washington. We camped out overnight and about 6:30am I was getting up when I heard a guy woo hooo-ing and proclaiming "I am the last one partying, yeah baby" After that a chorus of laughter from all the tents in the nearby area erupted. Too much fun.
I went to a Buffet concert in Charlotte a long time ago only because I got free tickets from one of our beer distributors. I wasn't particularly excited about it, but the tickets were free so off we went. We had a great time! I can't recall the last time that I've seen that many happy people in one place at one time. Much different than the bar scene that I was used to where at least half the folks are drinking their sorrows or depression away. People in our row of seats took turns making beer runs and for the most part wouldn't even take money for the drinks that they brought back. Have a blast and come by the Art Bar afterwards if you're still feeling adventurous!
I was never a buffet fan. Not my style. Until one weekend a friend begged me to go with him when another friend backed out. I had so much fun. It was like a 48 hour bender. The tailgate area put bourbon street to shame. More free drinks and breasts than I've seen in one place outside of mardi gras in NO. I had so many margaritas I don't remember much about the concert. But everyone was happy as hell. I still don't listen to his music just sitting around, but I'll go to any concert of his I can get tickets for. Lots of respect for the brand he's created.
I live in Florida on the water. If I ever see Buffet I will poke him in the nose. I am so tired of his music. I can't open my patio door without hearing a neighbor pool party or a boat going down the Intracoastal playing Buffet. I also know a few people that have associated with Buffet. The booze, drugs and women stories are a plenty. But I don't hold that against him.
Someday, I will spend the money to go to a Buffett concert. I love his music, and even play some every day on my guitar.
best concert to see all fun and good times. saw him for the first time in 1990 try to go every other year if i can.
Lots of musicians put on a concert for their fans.....JB has a party for a couple thousand friends where he plays his music. Have a great time!
Baxter's cousin. I put on the DVD of the "Live in Anguilla" concert whenever I need some stress release. It made me a Bankie Banx fan, too!
Had a blast last night. Started drinkin' at about 1330, so it made for a long day. Craweled outta bed at about 1100 this morning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzCX_GnS2Xk
